Find out how to improve your home’s energy performance, lower your heating and cooling costs, andmake your home healthier through weatherization.
Insulation & Air Sealing
One of the most critical upgrades you can make to your home for improving energy performance and comfort is a 1-2 combination of air sealing and insulation.
Start by sealing the “envelope” or outer building shell of your home. From the interior, seal attic hatches and other unsealed penetrations such as plumbing pipes in the floor.
Then, add insulation in the attic, walls and floor to current WA energy code levels.
This two-step process is one of the most cost effective ways to retain the heat you’ve already paid for, lower your energy bills and make your home more comfortable for years to come.
If you’re thinking of upgrading your furnace this year to a more efficient model or want to make your current system more efficient, consider this: up to 30% of the heat you pay for will be lost through leaky ductwork. Sealing your ductwork can reduce these losses significantly and ensure that the heat produced at one end of your home actually makes it to the other!
